Just What is Workplace Wellness?

When you see the words "workplace wellness" the meaning seems pretty straight-forward and, in reality, it is! Unfortunately, regardless of how obvious it may seem, a lot of companies aren't engaging in practices that will not only improve employees health and happiness but will ultimately increase profit. Yes, you read it correctly. It's been shown that happy and healthy employees leads to more productivity and less sick days. Workplace wellness is a smart investment and we want to show you why!

Ok that all sounds great but what does it actually mean? To understand workplace wellness it's important to first start with individual wellness. This refers to a person’s ability to maintain physical and mental well-being including doing things that protect and enhance health and reducing or staying away from those things that place health at risk. This is important because this is exactly what you are trying to promote in your employees!

​Workplace wellness on the other-hand, refers to an organization’s ability to promote and maintain the physical and mental health of its employees. It is also about reducing risks to employees’ health and wellness through safe work practices, healthy work environments and responsible hosting of company events. Essentially it's where your responsibilities, as an employer, come into play!
